What to expect on your first visit:
For your convenience, we do offer electronic paperwork which can be completed prior to your appointment. If you prefer to do paperwork in office, that is also available, we would just recommend you give yourself an extra 30 minutes before your appointment to complete your paperwork in time for your appointment. Your insurance will be fully verified at this point, and ready to go.

After patient registration, we will bring you to the room where we will go over the information you provided and start building your chart on the computer. Then, we will move on to capturing your full mouth X-ray images. These images will be imperative for Dr. P to know where you stand with your current oral health, and will also allow her to accurately diagnose you for any necessary treatment. Already have X-rays from your last dental office? Depending on how long ago you had your prior images, we may need to capture more current images for today's comprehensive exam. However, if you can bring X-rays with you from your prior office, we are more than happy to add them to your chart for our historical reference.

After X-rays and images are completed, Dr. Prendiville will sit down with you and discuss your medical history in more detail, and will begin her comprehensive exam with the dental assistant who has been helping you so far. Dr. will examine tooth by tooth (this process is not painful at all - we are simply taking a look to see if we can find something that maybe the X-rays did not reveal. After looking at all of your teeth, Dr. will then make her recommendations based on her findings.
Lastly, after Dr. P and her dental assistant build your treatment plan on the computer, we will prepare a financial estimate or "treatment plan" which will be based on your insurance contracted rates (if using insurance) or out-of-pocket fees (if not using insurance). We will ask you to sign a treatment plan, which is just an acknowledgment of the treatment Dr. Prendiville is recommending for you, and also what we "estimate" your share of the cost will be, and what your insurance will also be estimated to pay.
What about your cleaning? If a cleaning on the same day of your new patient exam is a priority for you, please make our scheduling representative aware, so we can schedule you accordingly. Your cleaning diagnosis (the type of cleaning you qualify for) will be determined during your new patient exam. We will go over a treatment plan after your comprehensive exam with Dr. P to let you know what your share of cost will be and what we estimate your insurance to pay. Unfortunately, we will not know any of these details until you are seen by us.
